Q + A with Cindy Crabb
• 4pm - 4:45pm
Join the creator of the long-running and highly influential Doris zine as she discusses her life and work. Cindy has been self-publishing Doris since 1991, exploring diverse subjects, from the simple pleasures of daily life to serious matters of social change, sexuality, and abuse. She has developed one of the most distinctive and well-known voices in the DIY community. Her latest zine, Doris #26, will be premiering at the SF Zine Fest! Audience Q + A to follow.

Q + A with Vanessa Davis
• 5pm - 5:45pm
The creator of the beloved Spaniel Rage comic, Vanessa has achieved mainstream success (working for the likes of the New York Times and more) while keeping her feet firmly planted in the world of self-publishing. Her comics are witty, effusive, and revealing; drawn in a distinctive free form style that is wholly her own. A slide show of her work and an audience Q + A will be included.

Watercolor Illustration
• 6pm - 7pm
An informal skill share about using watercolor in illustration, especially as a way to add color to pen and ink drawings. Jesse will demonstrate the basic techniques--including flat washes, graded washes, wet into wet, lost and found edges, dry brush, lifting, modeling, and glazing--while chattering about brushes, paper, pigments, and color theory. Brushes, paint, and paper will be provided so you can play along (or bring your own if you've got favorites).

Nature Walk
• 10am - 11am
Join us for a (semi) early morning nature walk in the Arboritum, right next door to the SF County Fair Building! We'll check out our diverse local bird population, walk amongst California Redwoods, and spend some time sketching and writing about what we see and hear. Inspiring for anyone who wants to create work about the natural world, or anyone who wants to enjoy a leisurely stroll in a beautiful outdoor environment.
B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Binoculars)!
Meets outside of the County Fair Building.

DIY Screenprinting
• 1:30pm - 3pm
Always a Zine Fest favorite! Learn the basics of screenprinting in this hands-on workshop. Students will cut stencils out of mylar and print your own designs (bring clothes, paper, or any flat surface you would like the screenprint onto)! Several screens with pre-burned designs will also be available for printing. Discussion will include printing, screen construction, screen mesh, squeegee hardness, types of ink, emulsion coating and removal, and exposure of positive image. All inks, squeegees, and screens will be provided.
-John Isaacson

Film Screening: Grrlyshow
• 3pm - 3:45pm
Grrlyshow examines the girly Zine revolution through a combination of interviews with influential zine creators (including the makers of Bust, Bamboo Girl, Bitch, and Java Turtle) clips from the zines and 1950's television-esque vignettes. The result is an 18-minute explosion of fringe feminism and print media, a powerful and rebellious message from new voices often left unheard. A Q + A session with filmmaker Kara Herold will follow the screening.

Family Reunion
• 4pm - 4:45pm
In early 2004, eleven diverse friends created "Family Style Jamboree," a bizarre collaborative zine: Each issue focused on one of the founding members, with each contributor expressing themselves as they saw fit, whether the verdict was kind or cruel. In the following years Family Style managed to release 7 issues, throw some lavish release parties, and put some serious strain on their relationships!
Please join the original members of Family Style as they get together for the first time in years to discuss the glories and pitfalls of collaborative creation, share excerpts from previous issues, and generally talk trash... Potentially inspiring to others who want to embark on a collaborative, community-based project; and definitely entertaining for all! Slide show, including pages from the never-released eighth issue!
-moderated by Jaan Shenberger
